Biodiesel from Soy Bean?

As I was reading regarding GMOF (Genetically Modified Organism & Food), I came across an article about “Biodiesel made of Soy Bean Oil”.

Through biotechnology which produces GMOF soy beans, there are still plenty of soy bean for meeting the demands of food production. But the surplus needed to be utilized. That’s why the soybean checks off helped develop the U.S. biodiesel industry through research funding to find new uses for soybean oil. One of those uses was soy biodiesel. Over time, the industry grew and provided great new opportunities for all soy bean farmers, not to mention increased energy security and environmental benefits for us all. This will boost the demand for soybeans, but not at the risk of sacrificing food use.

In reality, food production is still the number one use for soybean oil worldwide.Let’s not forget the other major component of soybeans – soy bean foods!!

Oatmeal anyone?

Oatmeal is an ideal choice for breakfast. As we all know, breakfast is vital to energize your day. A good breakfast will determine on how well you perform either at work or in studies. With that, here are the benefits of consuming oatmeal...
  • Soluble fibre from oats lowers cholesterol levels in the blood. Consuming one large bowl of oat bran cereal has been shown to decrease total cholesterol.

  • It is estimated that the reduction in total cholesterol could lower the incidence of coronary heart disease... oat consumption may reduce blood pressure too.

  • Oats reduce blood glucose and insulin responses. Control of blood glucose and insulin levels is essential in prevention of many of the complications associated with diabetes.

  • Oats favourably alter metabolism and enhance performance when ingested shortly before prolonged endurance exercise of moderate intensity.

  • Beta-glucan from oats may enhance the immune response.

  • However, currently it is insufficient evidence to suggest that oats promote weight loss or improve compliance to a reduced-calorie diet.

Skyscrapers...!

Today in Engineering Construction class, I have learned a lot about foundations. Foundations is a structure that transfer loads to the earth. Foundation is generally divided into two main section; substructure and superstructure. Substructure is the foundation that is build underground. Meanwhile, the superstructure is the one forming the structure of buildings and skyscrapers.

With a strong and well designed foundation, high raised buildings or skyscrapers can be build without worrying of the worst outcome of it..collapsing! Foundations are designed to have an adequate load capacity with limited settlement.

The results of excellent foundation are:

Taiwan’s: Taipei 101, which - at 508 metres (1,667 ft) - had been officially the world's tallest building since 2004.

Emirates Saudi Arabia:Coming soon..the world's soon-to-be tallest buiding is the Burj Dubai. This skyscraper has now topped 688 metres (2,257 ft ) and will be completed in September 2008.

Love Hurts?

Have you ever felt everything seem so wrong when you are in love? Well, it’s not a hideous thing after all. It teaches you a valuable experience if you truly reflect on it rather than being sad or angry about your unstable situation. You are showing concern…but the one you love think that you are just controlling their action. Well, it’s not anyone’s right to control ones’ life.

I have learn that resilience and being humble in terms of being ready to apologize and to prioritize your partner’s feelings is so much more important. It doesn’t matter who is right or wrong in a certain misunderstanding, as long as you both are ready to tolerate and to listen to each other full-heartedly. Somehow or rather, these kind of misunderstanding would make you and partner appreciate each other better.. where there is love, all other good values comes around too.

Being in love is very exciting. So, don't let your sad emotions overwhelm your relationship... I know its easy to forgive but its not going to be an easy thing to forget what she or he had done which had hurt your fragile feelings. Let the time heal you.. as for now, just enjoy your life, achieve your goals and live it to the fullest with your love ones. As the saying goes, love is the most precious gift of all...

Sleeping is Beauty...

Honestly, what came across your mind when it comes to the word “sleeping”? I bet it’s all about comfy bed and of course a period of a wholesome relaxation..Am I right? Based on the statistic which I had read from reader’s digest ,more than 75% people worldwide had less than 6 hours of sleep daily. Why? It’s none other than commitments on hectic and demanding work or career schedule.

Study shows that sleep is perhaps one of the most prominent aspects of keeping healthy and feeling great. Sleep gives the brain time to organize data in its memory, repair damaged cells, tissue, muscles and give the cardiovascular system a break. Sleep also helps bring more energy into people helping them to accept their challenges. Sleep can also help people who are often stressed. The benefits of sticking to the recommended 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night have immeasurable benefits.

Sleeping will improved memory and cognitive function and extend lifespan. It brings great benefit to our overall health and general well-being. Your sleeping duration will determine on how you look and feel. When you get enough sleep, your body is more flexible and willing to work. Your refreshed brain will organize memories, as well as to help you recover memories and improve performance to concentrate more on your work or study. Nevertheless, sleeping also makes you look younger and improve your appearance. Sleeping is indeed beauty!

Caring is Charity

If others say SHARING is CARING..then I’ll say, CARING is CHARITY! Cheers!

I used to get involved in charity activities due to my sensitive characteristic. I always wanted to help the poor, the sick and suffering. I have found peace and satisfaction by helping others in need through charity activities. Since I was young I tend to have this feeling of sympathy towards others who are less fortunate than I am.

I join the Red Crescent Society since I was in primary school. From there, I always joined charity visits to the Old Folks Home, Cheshire Home, Hospital and Children’s Cancer Ward Visit. Besides that, I also got myself involved in an organization of fund raising in Jumble Sale to help the less fortunate and the poor. One of my greatest achievements in charity event was the “Blood Donating” event. Actually, I wanted to donate blood since I was 16 years. However my parents forbid me from doing so. Finally when I’m 18, (since we don’t have to consult our parents’ permission anymore) I’ve made my own decision to donate blood. It was a mind boggling experience. I was so excited and happy because I was able to fulfill my charity intention.

Just In Squash

Squash is one of my favourite sports. What makes squash different from the rest of my favourite sports is that, i play squash and experience the whole match and even tournament myself. Well, u might like football because of its pro-active and extravagant football club with all these super-skilled and gorgeous football player, but you don’t get yourself involved for real by playing football.

Getting yourself involved in sports during your leisure time not only benefits you in terms of health but it also brings you satisfaction as it rejuvenates your mind and soul. Its brings out the sportsmanship in you! You also get to socialize in sports and meet new mates when you had a friendly match. Moreover, you will get to learn various techniques from each other as your polish up your skills in your favourite sports.

I started playing squash at the age of 12. When i entered high school, i entered under-15 squash tournament. It was overall a challenging tournament, because i was one of the junior then and all my senior were real fabulous players. Strict, hardworking and dedicated perfectly describe my coach, Sir Justin. That's why he named his squash team " JUST IN SQUASH "! He trained and monitor us on squash training and matches as well as....fitness training!!! Argh.. those days with all the never-ending running, jogging, push ups...to maintain the optimum level of fitness for all the players. Anyways, it was all so yesterday..

Here are some squash basic info i would like to share with you all...hehe..
