Caring is Charity

If others say SHARING is CARING..then I’ll say, CARING is CHARITY! Cheers!

I used to get involved in charity activities due to my sensitive characteristic. I always wanted to help the poor, the sick and suffering. I have found peace and satisfaction by helping others in need through charity activities. Since I was young I tend to have this feeling of sympathy towards others who are less fortunate than I am.

I join the Red Crescent Society since I was in primary school. From there, I always joined charity visits to the Old Folks Home, Cheshire Home, Hospital and Children’s Cancer Ward Visit. Besides that, I also got myself involved in an organization of fund raising in Jumble Sale to help the less fortunate and the poor. One of my greatest achievements in charity event was the “Blood Donating” event. Actually, I wanted to donate blood since I was 16 years. However my parents forbid me from doing so. Finally when I’m 18, (since we don’t have to consult our parents’ permission anymore) I’ve made my own decision to donate blood. It was a mind boggling experience. I was so excited and happy because I was able to fulfill my charity intention.

Just In Squash

Squash is one of my favourite sports. What makes squash different from the rest of my favourite sports is that, i play squash and experience the whole match and even tournament myself. Well, u might like football because of its pro-active and extravagant football club with all these super-skilled and gorgeous football player, but you don’t get yourself involved for real by playing football.

Getting yourself involved in sports during your leisure time not only benefits you in terms of health but it also brings you satisfaction as it rejuvenates your mind and soul. Its brings out the sportsmanship in you! You also get to socialize in sports and meet new mates when you had a friendly match. Moreover, you will get to learn various techniques from each other as your polish up your skills in your favourite sports.

I started playing squash at the age of 12. When i entered high school, i entered under-15 squash tournament. It was overall a challenging tournament, because i was one of the junior then and all my senior were real fabulous players. Strict, hardworking and dedicated perfectly describe my coach, Sir Justin. That's why he named his squash team " JUST IN SQUASH "! He trained and monitor us on squash training and matches as well as....fitness training!!! Argh.. those days with all the never-ending running, jogging, push ups...to maintain the optimum level of fitness for all the players. Anyways, it was all so yesterday..

PS: I LOVE YOU

PS: I LOVE YOU by the famous author, Cecelia Ahern is one of my favourite novel. This heart- melting story thought me a lot about love, life and time. This story promotes good relationship among family members, marriage and also friendship. It revolves around how we should always have optimism in life no matter how difficult a situation way seem. Dare to do something beyond our expectation that it could somehow improves our confidence. As the saying goes, if there is a will, there is always a way.

Here is the summary of the novel which i would like to share with you all...

Set in Dublin, Ireland, Holly Kennedy is a beautiful, smart and is married to the love of her life, a passionate, loving, impetuous and funny Gerry. So when Gerry's life was taken by an illness (Brain tumor), it also takes the life out of Holly. Being all dependant to her husband, she is now all hopeless. Try imagine this, she has been dating Gerry since high school days... The only one person who can help her is no longer there. Nobody know Holly better than Gerry.

So the brilliant and mind boggling Gerry, had planned things ahead in the midst of his illness. Before he died, he wrote Holly a series of 10 letters which he hoped to be able to guide her when he is no longer around in this world, not only through her griefs burt also to rediscovering her true self. The messages which Gerry had left her are the ways to lead her life on and also to tell that he will always be there for her.

As time goes by, more of Gerry letters arrives to her every month in suprising ways...each sending her a new adventure, and each signing of in the same way, "PS: I LOVE YOU". Holly's mother and her best freinds, Sharon and Denise are worried that Gerry's letters will reminded her of the past memories. however, each letter pushing her to a new future and had change her into a more independant and charismatic person.

With Gerry's word as her guide, Holly set out on the new journey of rediscovering the true meaning of marriage, freindships, and family ties. Especially, how an unconditional love of her husband..a love so strong that can turn a finality of death to a new begining of life.

MORE OF PS; I LOVE YOU...

This wonderful novel is also being adapted in to a movie which was released in late 2007. Starring in this movie is Hillary Swank as Holly and Gerard Butler as Gerry. Other supporting actor and actress are Lisa Kudrow (from the sitcom Friends), Gina Gershon and James Masters. This movie was directed by Richard LaGravenase.

The Seven Wonders of the World

Hey there everyone, it's my first time blogging!!! I'm excited.. Currently, I'm doing my Bachelor Civil Engineering... i would to share on my personal interest, that is on "the wonders of the world"..i have deep passion for beautiful and unique constructions.

Since ancient times, numerous “seven wonders” lists have been created. The content of these lists tends to vary, and none is definitive. The seven wonders that are most widely agreed upon as being in the original list are the
Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, which was compiled by ancient Greek historians and is thus confined to the most magnificent structures known to the ancient Greek world. Of all the Ancient Wonders, the pyramids alone survive.

The Pyramids of Egypt

The Pyramids of Egypt are three pyramids at Giza, outside modern Cairo. The largest pyramid, built by Khufu (Cheops), a king of the fourth dynasty, had an original estimated height of 482 ft (now approximately 450 ft). The base has sides 755 ft long. It contains 2,300,000 blocks; the average weight of each is 2.5 tons. Estimated date of completion is 2680 B.C.

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon

The Hanging Gardens of Babylon were supposedly built by Nebuchadnezzar around 600 B.C. to please his queen, Amuhia. They are also associated with the mythical Assyrian queen Semiramis. Archeologists surmise that the gardens were laid out atop a vaulted building, with provisions for raising water. The terraces were said to rise from 75 to 300 ft.

The Statue of Zeus at Olympia

The Statue of Zeus (Jupiter) at Olympia was made of gold and ivory by the Greek sculptor Phidias (5th century B.C.). Reputed to be 40 ft high, the statue has been lost without a trace, except for reproductions on coins.

The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus

The Temple of Artemis (Diana) at Ephesus was begun about 350 B.C., in honor of a non-Hellenic goddess who later became identified with the Greek goddess of the same name. The temple, with Ionic columns 60 ft high, was destroyed by invading Goths in A.D. 262.

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus

The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was erected by Queen Artemisia in memory of her husband, King Mausolus of Caria in Asia Minor, who died in 353 B.C. Some remains of the structure are in the British Museum. This shrine is the source of the modern word mausoleum.

The Colossus at Rhodes

The Colossus at Rhodes was a bronze statue of Helios (Apollo), about 105 ft high. The work of the sculptor Chares, who reputedly labored for 12 years before completing it in 280 B.C., it was destroyed during an earthquake in 224 B.C.

The Pharaohs of Alexandria

The Pharos (Lighthouse) of Alexandria was built by Sostratus of Cnidus during the 3rd century B.C. on the island of Pharos off the coast of Egypt. It was destroyed by an earthquake in the 13th century.
