Oatmeal anyone?

Oatmeal is an ideal choice for breakfast. As we all know, breakfast is vital to energize your day. A good breakfast will determine on how well you perform either at work or in studies. With that, here are the benefits of consuming oatmeal...
  • Soluble fibre from oats lowers cholesterol levels in the blood. Consuming one large bowl of oat bran cereal has been shown to decrease total cholesterol.

  • It is estimated that the reduction in total cholesterol could lower the incidence of coronary heart disease... oat consumption may reduce blood pressure too.

  • Oats reduce blood glucose and insulin responses. Control of blood glucose and insulin levels is essential in prevention of many of the complications associated with diabetes.

  • Oats favourably alter metabolism and enhance performance when ingested shortly before prolonged endurance exercise of moderate intensity.

  • Beta-glucan from oats may enhance the immune response.

  • However, currently it is insufficient evidence to suggest that oats promote weight loss or improve compliance to a reduced-calorie diet.
